This study aims to describe the implementation of the servant leadership model of the dormitory caretaker in the formation of student discipline character at Al Wafi International Islamic Boarding School, Depok. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with the object of study being the leadership practices of the dormitory caretaker, and the research subjects include care management, caretakers, and students. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation, and data analysis included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results of the study show that, although the caretakers' leadership styles vary, they generally apply a servant-leadership model that emphasizes service-based leadership balanced with firmness in enforcing rules. The implementation of this model has consistently proven effective in fostering student discipline, developing intellectual potential and character, and cultivating students who are disciplined, responsible, and mentally strong, thereby making servant leadership appropriate for the management of boarding education in modern Islamic boarding schools.
2025-12-31T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Journal of Education Management and Islamic Studies https://alwafi.ac.id/journal/index.php/stit/article/view/46 Digital Transformation of Pesantren: An Analysis of Online Learning Management and the Strengthening of Character Values in the Society 5.0 Era 2026-05-12T04:03:37+00:00 Eka Puji SriLestari ekapuji482@gmail.com Nurhalisa nurhalisa@alwafi.ac.id
This study aims to analyze the online learning management model and strategies for strengthening character values in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) in responding to the demands of the Society 5.0 era. Using a qualitative approach and a case study method in two pesantren actively undergoing transformation, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. The findings reveal that digital transformation in pesantren is selective and contextual; it does not replace the essence of traditional education but rather reinforces it through technology. Pesantren develop a structured hybrid learning management model that integrates a parallel curriculum (synchronous for religious studies and asynchronous for supporting subjects) while involving the role of Cyber Santri as technical partners. The strengthening of character values such as honesty, responsibility, and discipline is integrated through value infusion in digital task design and the creation of a civilized digital environment, where kiai and ustadz remain present as role models. The study identifies key supporting factors, including visionary leadership and an adaptive internal community, as well as challenges such as gaps in digital competence and the threat of distraction. This research concludes that pesantren have the potential to become a model of Pesantren Society 5.0—human-centered in nature—provided they build a balance between technological mastery and Islamic digital pedagogy, thereby producing students who excel spiritually, intellectually, and digitally. The study recommends the need for policy support to strengthen infrastructure and provide continuous training to ensure sustainable and meaningful transformation.
2026-05-12T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Journal of Education Management and Islamic Studies https://alwafi.ac.id/journal/index.php/stit/article/view/47 Management of the Local Content Curriculum for Kitab Kuning (Classical Islamic Texts) at SMP Al Wafi International Islamic Boarding School 2026-05-13T00:17:20+00:00 Rizki Mubarak mubarokbinseff4038@gmail.com Muhammad Bakri Rahimin abuabbaad1@gmail.com
This study discusses the management of the local content curriculum for Kitab Kuning (classical Islamic texts) at SMP Al Wafi Depok, Sawangan District. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that the Quran memorization program was implemented using the talaqqi method supplemented by muroja'ah (religious study). The teachers played a role in guiding and assisting students, allocating dedicated time for muroja'ah, providing motivation, and facilitating students in strengthening memorization. Evaluation of Quran memorization learning was carried out through the development of halaqoh (religion meeting) regulations, determining memorization targets, weekly evaluations, Quran memorization exams, and monthly Quran memorization reports submitted to parents. Furthermore, updates to Quran memorization activities were made, including providing additional hours outside of class hours for students who were not yet fluent in Quran recitation and implementing a program for studying the Quran in the unseen. The implications of this Quran memorization program are that it can develop religious students with a strong commitment to Quran memorization.
2026-05-16T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Journal of Education Management and Islamic Studies
